I switched my bible teaching to Sunday mornings so that I could return to the Ladies class on Wednesday nights. I have missed this for 2 quarters now! They had a new book and as I started flipping through it I thought this is going to be good! New Testament questions for women (not exactly the title but that is the gist of it). Some hot topics are in there, head coverings, submission, women's role in the church .....and last nights "Silence in Service". I believe so many churches have fallen badly off path from God wanted and intended His church to be...and its because of "times changing" and "fair & equality for women". But the point is that God doesn't change. His Word does not change. He left us specific instructions how he wants us to worship and in Revelations He says "...do not add or take away..." This goes with everything...and its meant!
Many would say I am for "women power" lol which makes me smile. Let me explain, my mother brought me up to make sure I can take care of myself first and not "rely" on anyone else for this. You never know what kind of predicament you will be in. This could include death of a spouse, etc. So my main goal in life has always been to be the best I can be and enjoy and take pride in what I do. I worked very very hard to get to this point. I can comfortably say that I can take care of myself. I say go get it if you want it! No matter the gender. BUT in a church setting, where God wants the men to be the spiritual leaders, for women to step in their way is just disobeying God. And that is not my opinion, that I got from the bible itself.
1 Corinthians 14:34-35 could not be more clear on this topic. This does not say that women can't go spread the Word to others but encourages the women of the church to support the men in their roles. In order for Christians to do as God wants them to, you have to study the bible. I hope everyone individually sits and studies what is expected from them and prays to God that they understand what God wants from them. Because when it comes down to it, you are in charge of your salvation. Not your church or your preacher or your spouse.
